Branding Yourself Or Your Business

Whether you own your own business or work for someone else you should be aware of the value of branding. Branding is a way to give you an identity and distinguish your business or work from other companies and/or coworkers. First off, you need to provide quality service and work. Obviously if you are not producing quality work, then you should work on that first. You do not want to be recognized for mistakes or poor quality. If you are providing good quality, you want to be recognized for it. Any time possible, whether it be in emails, website postings, and on the product it self you should include your name or company’s name. This way your name will be associated with quality. Any emails or documents you create at work, especially if they are used by your department or other people, should have your name on them. Make sure you get recognized for your hard work. If you work very hard, but no one knows it, you are throwing your hard work away. In this world today someone will be quick to take the glory from you and use it for themselves. If you are presenting a PowerPoint presentation at work, make sure your name is tagged on it. When employers are looking to promote or a position opens up, if your name rings a bell to a supervisor or higher up, then there is more chance you will get the position/promotion compared to an unknown name. To a company branding is very valuable. If a customer or potential customer cannot remember your companies name, then how can they look you up on the web or phone book? If a happy customer wants to refer someone to you, but they cannot remember your companies name, you could possibly lose business. Brand your name on everything possible, have an easy to remember name, and be different from the rest of the crowd. Think of when celebrities change their name prior to becoming famous. Actors will choose a different and easy to remember name, they are preparing to brand themselves. Make yourself easy to remember and associate yourself with quality, this will take you a long way.
